Arnprior & Renfrew County

Arnprior mortgages, handled calmly.

Arnprior sits where the Madawaska meets the Ottawa River, at the eastern edge of Renfrew County. I am Brad Plummer, a mortgage broker based in Carleton Place, and I help Arnprior buyers and homeowners with purchases, renewals and refinances, comparing many lenders and explaining every option plainly.

An Ottawa Valley broker for Arnprior

valley to valley

Arnprior is in Renfrew County, while my office is in Carleton Place in neighbouring Lanark County, at 157 Bridge Street. If you would like to meet in person we can book a time there. Most of the process, from application to signing, works just as well remotely.

Many Arnprior households commute along Highway 417 toward Kanata and Ottawa, and others work locally or from home. When I plan a purchase with you, I look at the full monthly picture, including travel and heating costs, so the payment fits real life and not just a lender's calculator.

Around Arnprior you will find established neighbourhoods in town, newer subdivisions, and rural and riverfront properties in McNab/Braeside. River frontage, private services and larger lots can all change which lenders are a good match, so I review the property details early.

How we work

Four steps, no guesswork.

  1. Book a call

Phone or video at a time that suits your commute or schedule.

  2. Apply in about 10 minutes

Secure online forms. One credit check covers the comparison.

  3. Review the options

Payment, term and total cost compared, with honest trade offs.

  4. Closing and beyond

I coordinate with your lawyer and lender, and reach out well before renewal.

Worth knowing

Arnprior buyer checklist

General points that come up often. I confirm the details for your property and lender.

  • Riverfront and flood mapping

Properties near the Ottawa or Madawaska rivers may sit in mapped flood areas. Check home insurance availability and cost before your conditions expire.

  • Wells, septic and rural lots

Outside town, private services are common. Lenders or lawyers often ask for a water test, and an inspection of the septic system is a smart condition.

  • New build in a growing area

If you are buying a new home, check deposit structure, closing date flexibility and whether a first-time buyer GST/HST rebate may apply.

Questions

Arnprior questions

Do you work with clients in Renfrew County?

Yes. I am licensed in Ontario and work with clients across the province. Arnprior and the surrounding area are close to my Carleton Place office, and most of the process can be done remotely.

Can I get a mortgage on a riverfront home near Arnprior?

Usually, yes, but plan ahead. Lenders need the home to be insurable, and properties in flood prone areas can be harder or more costly to insure. Get an insurance quote early, and I will check lender fit for the property.

I am buying a new build in Arnprior. When should I talk to you?

Before you sign, if possible. New builds can take months or years to close, so it helps to know how the lender will handle the timing, your deposit and any rate hold. Our construction mortgage guide covers custom builds too.

Is my renewal a good time to switch lenders?

At maturity you can usually move without a penalty. Switching is a new application with the new lender, though most straight switches with the same balance and amortization no longer need the federal stress test. I compare it against your current lender's offer.
